Access to Fair Hearings

Foster, adoptive parents or permanent guardians can challenge CFSA's denial, reduction or termination of their subsidies through the Office of Fair Hearings and Appeals. The caregiver may request a hearing with an examiner or choose to have the case mediated by an impartial third party.

A trained mediator brings the parties together to help resolve disputes quickly and to the satisfaction of both CFSA and caregivers. Mediation is proven to be one of the fastest ways to settle disputes with little or no expense to the caregiver.

For more information about the fair hearings/mediation process, please call (202) 724-7100.
